Day 46 We journey along the Erie Canal. Buffalo, New York to Medina, New York.

Day 46.  Back in the saddle again!  39.2 miles 469 feet of climb to Medina, New York.  After a few days out of the bike seat at a conference in Palm Springs (a 14 hour plane ride from Buffalo - all night!) I am back riding.  By the way, here is how to listen to Back in the Saddle Again

We had to first pick up the bike from the shop, send some stuff back home, get some food (They don't feed the cattle on the airplanes anymore) and then on the bike.  It was a great start with help from on high.

You can tell it is now October as the Halloween things are starting to show up.  The pumpkins out here are really something!

As usual, we saw lots of neat old barns.

As for unusual things, first, there was another "Gas Place"!?  I just don't get it.

We also saw the stealth bus!  I sure didn't know it was not a bus until I read this.  Very secret.  Scary that they do things like this - I mean, how dumb do they think we are (don't answer that!).
The Erie Canal!  I have heard about it, but I have never really been by and on it.  It is BIG considering that it was basically dug by hand.  Impressive.  Here are some pictures.

Finally, riding in to Medina, New York where we are staying, we passed the American Legion Hall where they were having dinner - open to the public - and they let us in!  It was a fun place to chat and chow.

Tomorrow it is supposed to rain again, and we are on the Erie for several miles.  How far we get I will tell you when we are done!  So far, so good.
