The maples seem to be the first trees to be showing their bright fall reds, and it seems like they have several patches of color instead of a gradual changing of the entire tree. We just happened to have a very photogenic day today as the dark storm
clouds to the north made an ominous background while the foreground
objects were lit with bright sun at a low angle.
The sumacs are also turning bright red, but I didn't get a good shot of any of those. I had to chuckle at this vine, poison ivy I think, that had climbed up the trunk of a pine tree and was giving it some fall color!
And of course there's the red color of barns, but that isn't just at this time of year.
