Fall Farben

For aspiring German language students, "Farben" means colors, and we're just starting to see the first hints of those fall colors as we ride through upstate New York.
The maples seem to be the first trees to be showing their bright fall reds, and it seems like they have several patches of color instead of a gradual changing of the entire tree.  We just happened to have a very photogenic day today as the dark storm clouds to the north made an ominous background while the foreground objects were lit with bright sun at a low angle.

The sumacs are also turning bright red, but I didn't get a good shot of any of those.  I had to chuckle at this vine, poison ivy I think, that had climbed up the trunk of a pine tree and was giving it some fall color!
And of course there's the red color of barns, but that isn't just at this time of year.
