So, the day started out well in Whitefish, Mt. and the target was Apgar, Mt. so we could get to the Avalanche campground in Glacier Park. The ride in was nice, not too much traffic, and what we think is our only stretch of gravel road (wrong by the way!). Survived it all, and saw my personal fishing spot!
After passign the 4 pm limit on bikes on the "Going-To-The-Sky" road, we headed in to get to the Avalanche campground where Gayle had snagged a camping spot!
On the way we got a taste of how beautiful the park is, and the traffic was, well, not that bad. Here are a few pictures taken on the way.
On the way we did see some of the park buses - build in the 30's and the engines have been upgraded to more recent standards. Neat vehicles and they look like fun to be in - especially after a day of biking!
Finally, while we were waiting in Apgar to get allowed into the park on bikes, we decided to hunt for power. Paul P. dug down into a power cave and Voila! we were charged again!!
So, tomorrow on we go to Logan Pass! About a 4,000 foot climb and the highest one of the trip. The weather looks good and we have to be on the top by 11 am!!
