Ok, today was a tough one. 97 miles, 6,738 feet of climb to Ione, Washington. And, another hot day - 100 degrees when we left Colville. Still, after who-knows-how-many gallons of water, gatoraid, etc. we made it just before the sun set. The reason we pushed hard was to finish the climbs for a while - tomorrow it is FLAT!! The first picture is up at Sherman Pass. We made that in the morning so it was cool all the way up. The next pictures I can't understand - why do you have to use your right shoulder to put chains on and off!? Washington is a strange state. The final one is to make sure you know I am consistent - PAYDAY candy bars!! The best energy boost on a long, hot ride that I know of. Medically proven. So, we plan a lay-over day in Sandpoint tomorrow, and more to come.
