Day number 7 – a week.
Sorry I am a day late, but we did not have any WiFi access yesterday. The mileage was 40.5 miles and only 1425 feet gain today and it was a
very nice ride to Clark Fork, Montana at the Diamond T ranch. We spent about 75% of
the time on tertiary roads with little traffic, nice views of the river and
lake, and interesting places to stop and look around. Add to that the day being in the 80’s and
lunch consisting of a huckleberry milkshake, and it was as good as it can
get. The first slide shows it all –
beautiful indeed.
So, the topic for today is “Camping in America”. Slide number two shows how camping has
evolved it seems. A “Mini-Megaload”
pulling a Suburban parked in the wilderness – The remote part of the Walmart
parking lot! It just does not get wilder
than that for sure. They were not up
yet, but the air conditioner was already awake and exercising. Very challenging.
As for the wilderness, picture three shows how tough the
riding is. Those turtles just dart out
of the forest and can dart out like, um, slugs.
Tough to miss. Tough
The next species which has become more prevalent during the
summer is the Rapidulous Wheelfourulous.
As you can see, they are like herding cats so they can ONLY go straight,
left or right. ONLY. More research is being done on their mating
rituals, and so far, it appears related to beer. Their vocal patterns seem to be more commonly
4-cycle now days. More to follow. We will be looking for Rapidulous
Wheelfourulous scat as we travel.
Interesting species.
Finally, as a “vitamin C addict” myself (three types; Vitamin C, Coffee, Chocolate – in that order
over the day). I always thought there
was somewhere, somehow, an “industrial grade” of coffee!? Well, think no more – there is and here it is
found. I had already tanked up on
caffeine, but those in line were just putting their arms out with a credit card
in the hand, volar part up, and getting an IV boost while the card is
charged. Very efficient and
time-saving. Next time (if there is a
next time) I might try a blast.
