We had a really fun day today cruising across central Minnesota. The moderate tailwind was a welcome change from the headwinds we've had for the previous week. The new chain that Alan at Great Northern bike shop in Fargo installed did amazing things to my shifting. Anyway, we had a lot of fun today looking at old cars and chatting with the owners. Given Minnesota's use of road salt, I was surprised to see any cars older than about 20 years that weren't completely rusted out. The first old one that caught our eye was in Sabin - a 1940 (best guess) DeSoto.
There were two mechanics working on the car, which Paul C. helped get in better position.
Next we came across a perfectly restored gas station, shortly before Vergas. The detail was amazing and the parts had been perfectly restored.
As we got to Highway 10, there was one last antique, in rough shape - a 1936 Ford pickup truck.
I liked the V-8 logo on the side of the hood. My dad had a 1936 (same year as this Ford) REO that he was trying to restore. The last day he worked on it was the day I was born! We got in kind of late this evening, so I will sign off without more blogging and save the days other fun stuff for a future blog.
