Mackinac Island

The highlight today was visiting Mackinac Island.  Bikes aren't allowed on the Mackinac Bridge, so we had to pack them on the roof of the "Excrement" and drive across.
The counter to the bike prohibition on the bridge is the car prohibition on Mackinac Island.  On the island, the only allowed transports are horse-drawn carriages and bicycles.  So we had a fun time taking the ferry over to the island and riding around it.  Gayle was even able to join us for this jaunt.
There are actually several hundred full-time residents and I don't know how they get around.  Maybe they come out at night when the roads are bike-free.
It seems like the limestone breccia rocks are ideal for stacking into tall towers, as we saw several structural artworks, including these.

Overall, the island was a really fun place to visit and ride around and a welcome break from the daily job of putting miles under our belts.
