Day 36. What a different day! West wind, no rain and nice roads - finally! Gladstone, Michigan to Gould City, Michigan.

Day 36.  83.6 miles and 768 feet of climb with no headwind and NO RAIN.  It got close to raining, but it did not.  All in all it was a tiring but pleasant day.  Here are some of the pictures.
First, we headed out along the upper part of Lake Michigan and there was no headwind!  Not much traffic either.
Next, the older parts of the shoreline development has been aging.  Much of the old cabins and motels are deserted and empty, but some hang on.  This one had a funny old "fish" with old pans as eyes.  It still stands.

There were also many old barns.   They won't be there much longer, as one can see.  They have interesting stories I am sure.
This is another example of how places look deserted.  I looked into this old shop and it looked like the place was just closed on Friday with full expectation that Monday would be back to normal - but never was.  Who knows!?

The next picture is about the proposed wind generators.  The locals don't seem to like them, at least some of them don't, and we saw quite a few of these.  Around this area it looks like the argument has been decided  - there are several of them already up!
Next, it seems one can make cows out of anything.  This one was a set of old tanks, including a milk tank.

Finally, we came across some Model-A fans with their cars.  Very pretty machines and they still needed "TLC" once in a while.

There are always "modified" cars and classics for sale along the road.  Here are two that we saw.  The pickup looks like it is really ready for the swamp!

So, tomorrow we cross the five mile bridge into Mackinaw, Michigan.  It should be quite a ride over the longest suspension bridge in the world.
