Last night we stayed and the Swift's in Glen Ullin, N.D. and Margaret was an excellent host at the B&B. Great accommodations.
It was a good thing we were in the B&B as it really rained last night - with thunder too. In the morning the rain let up and here is Paul P. on the way out to start the days ride.
We decided to try the gravel road that connected us back to a side road, rather than going on the interstate. While it was a very nice course, the wet gravel was not a good biking surface, so we decided to go back to the recommended route on the interstate - not my favorite but still easier than wet gravel roads. Here are some of the views though.
Finally, after a dozen or so miles along the interstate and dealing with the traffic we got back on the old highway 10.
We had lunch in the town of New Salem, along with the "Mega-Cow".
We got things to eat at the new New Salem store that had only been open for a month. We chatted with the owner and the place was already busy.
Then, off we went into the headwinds again. Along the way we saw a great mailbox advertising the local milk business.
Then too there was a place I could have gotten my hair cut, but they were gone for the weekend. Good thing if the "haircut" around the sign is of any indication.
Not too much later the expected rain caught up with us. Here is Paul P. putting on his rain gear. Harder than just getting wet perhaps.
I always find some of the older places of interest, and this one looked neat. It is almost as if the place was shut down 60 years ago and left along. Neat old vehicles.
Tomorrow we head south and course away from the interstate. We will get back to you on the wind.
Henry and the Solseth's say wish you safe travels and tail winds. Good luck.
