At the start the weather was great with no rain and a bit of a tailwind. We had a great view of Lake Michigan and Gayle went for a hike out on the shore.
While we biked along we saw that we had passed the most northern point of Lake Michigan. We could not tell when we went by, but this sign said we did!
These are two folks from lower Michigan we met along the way. They told us it would rain, and they were right - mainly because they said is always rained! The next pictures show Paul P. riding in the rain from our first break.
At that break, we stopped at Gustafson's where they were making their own smoked salmon, beef, you name it. I got some smoked salmon aTnd it was super! This made the rain not so wet. The first picture shows where they were smoking this stuff.
The next picture shows us on the way out of Gustafson's when the rain started.
As we went along we could finally see the Mackinaw bridge! It was indeed a big one, in it's time the worlds second largest. Here are the pictures of the bridge from a distance and driving up. As I was driving I could not work the camera much.
We also went out to Mackinac Island for an easy ride around about 8 miles. Lots of fun and I made a separate blog on t his one. Tomorrow we have to work our way south to Bay City - eventually!
