Day 25. Napolean, North Dakota to Enderlin, North Dakota.

Day 25.  Today was a push - 111.8 miles and 1,594 feet of elevation gain to Enderlin, North Dakota.  Enderlin was short for "End of the Line".  The wind was in our faces for about twelve miles, then a quartering tailwind - YES!  The weather was great, not too cold, not too warm - perfect.
Here is a view of the route we were on.  It was long and very straight, as far as the eye could see.

Along the way we see so much "Road Art" and we share a few of them just about every day.  Here are a few more.

One of the the things we saw that was unusual was this collection of "prehistoric farm machinery" climbing up a hill.  You have to be a farmer to appreciate this one.  Blow it up to read the sign.
Another interesting thing is how much the land and amount of moisture has changed in the last few hundred miles.  There is much more water where we are now in Enderlin, North Dakota.  Look at how many more bales of hay there are per acre compared to Montana.

Then there all the old things left laying around and the abandoned farms and houses.  Each of them must have a story.  For example, this 1936 Oldsmobile was out resting in a field, and after I took this picture a fellow drives up in a truck and tells me it was his grandfather's car!  The history lives on!!

If you wonder how we keep going to do these miles, here is the secret - diesel fuel!  Really, I eat a lot of PayDay candy bars, but here we pulled into an abandoned gas station out in the middle of nowhere and the pumps were still there. Didn't work, but they looked ready to go.
So tomorrow we are on to Fargo, or beyond - depends on the wind.  Ask it to blow from the west please!
