Day 28 New York Mills, Minnesota to Baxter, Minnesota.

Day 28.  This was another great day of some wind, most to our backs, some gravel roads, some wrong turns, some raindrops, but mainly a good time.  We took a longer route through the "wilderness" rather than stay on the shoulder of a busy 4-lane road, and it overall worked out great!  The distance was 84.3 miles and only 742 feet of climb ending up in Baxter, Minnesota with Dave's parents!  Great deal and here are some pictures.  The first one is some of the dirt roads we ended up on, and they were certainly dirty.
As we went along we saw all sorts of wildlife and agricultural projects.  This was an early child agricultural education program that teaches kids how to cut the family lawn.  The do start early out here.
As we went along we saw more and more downed and snapped trees from a thunderstorm/tornado.  Some of the locals told us this happened about two weeks ago and there were winds of almost 100 MPH.  Here are some of the snapped trees.

We always pick a spot for lunch that enlightens our vision of how Minnesota works.  Here is where we stopped today.
The local houses are always interesting.  This one looks like the builder was also tasting beers at the same time!
As we went down the Paul Bunyan Bike Trail we did see some interesting rigs in a car show.  Take your pick!

Which one would you take indeed!!  It is a hard choice.
While we were re-charging with ice cream, a young family with some real "Minnesootans" came it.  Cute as buttons and as lively as ping-pong balls.
Finally, we all got to ride to Baxter down the Paul Bunyan bike trail.  It is a very nice trail indeed, especially as it is well paved.

Back on the bike tomorrow and it looks like a long one.  I will sleep well tonight.
